Trekking in the High Tatras

Overview

The High Tatras are familiar to every hiker in Central Europe. Their relatively small area is more than made up for by the wealth of hiking and climbing opportunities they offer. You can take some of the easy paths like “the Tatra highway”  which takes hikers the length of  the High Tatras from  West to  East or climb some of their rocky peaks including the highest of all – Gerlach (2 655 m). Note that if you wish to visit this summit, you will have to be accompanied by an experienced mountain guide. 

Trekking path 1: Štrbské Pleso (1355 m) – Rysy (2499 m) and back
